The Registry: Notable People of San Antonio in 2020

This archive of the Notable People of San Antonio in 2020 Collection is called the “Antidote to Simulation.” At a time when images are often digital or artificial, this collection stands as a genuine, lasting record of leadership during a pivotal period.

Each portrait in this collection was taken in person at KGS Studios. Kevin G. Saunders created these prints using a darkroom process that he no longer uses: he made high-resolution digital negatives for each print, then contact-printed them in the darkroom on Ilford Multigrade Classic Gloss gelatin silver photographic paper. Each print was hand-waxed with Renaissance Paste Wax and mounted on archival Masonite. The 11 x 14-inch portraits are framed in modern, museum-quality black frames. Each person featured wrote a phrase to accompany their portrait, which was displayed alongside the image. These portraits are meant to last for 200 years as physical legacy pieces.

Each Notable is shown in the gallery below, and if you hover over the image, you will find their name and inspiring phrase from 2020.
